Half Life 2 + Garry's Mod Crashing

Hey Guys

I just purchased a new laptop, and decided to get Half Life 2 and Garry's mod for it. The Laptop could easily play half life 2 and garry's mod, with

--- 2gb of ram
--- Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 CPU T5300 @ 1.73ghz

whenever I play half life, it plays normally (without glitching) and when it comes to a stage where it loads between the levels, it loads, autosaves and then crashes, every time.

In Garry's mod, I try to start it and it crashes, as well as the Source SDK tools.

I have a Mobile Intel (R) 945GM Express Chipset
so could anyone see if they can find out what this rather annoying problem could be?

I dont suppose your running steam?

Yes, I am running steam.

Just before I forget, I purchased Half Life 2 along with Half Life 2 : Death match, approximately 5 days ago. Steam came with the two, and I had to install it first before I could get Garry's mod. Once it had finished downloading, I attempted to open it. When it opened, the loading screen came up, but as soon as it finished loading a windows message came up, in the form of an error report. That is also the same thing that hapenned in Half life 2, Half Life 2 Death match and Source SDK tools.
