Half Life 2 GotY Edition

I have a question about the HL2 GotY edition.

I have the Collector's Edition CD, but will registration key on GotY edition accept on the collector's edition?

umm the cd key has nothing to do with the cd you get when you buy it, but thats only with source games since you only register the cd key with steam
