Next time, search button.

To answer your question, yes its coming to xbox.

i think he was wondering when, not if.

but that's still undecided. i'm pretty sure there going to get the pc version out the door then concentrate on the xbox version.

I read it's almost ready but they have some fuzzy contract-thingy with Microsoft or sumttin.

Why spend time on a X-box version, when they idn't finished with the Pc-version yet?

because testing for bugs does not require many programmers, so some of them can work on the Xbox virsion.

I tell you, if the xbox (i choke everytime is say the word) version comes out before the PC version (*cough* Deus Ex : Invisible War *cough*), i will scream myself to death and will demand that xbox be destroyed or somethin similar....:)

If that happened I would never buy a Valve product again.

I would laugh my ass off at everyone who doesn't own an xbox, then I would beat it and tell you all the ending HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I don't own an Xbox because I don't believe consoles are worth the money, and the replayablility for most games is 0.

Biggest biased response I've heard in a while. Although this is a largely biased pc gaming community, so that should be expected =p.

Much <3 though.

Still, the game would never come out on the X-Box before the PC. Ever.

How the hell is that biased?

I played Morrowind and Halo for a long long time, and Mechassault took up all my time last summer. Unreal Championship and Ghost Recon were lots of fun, Crimson Skies kicked ass. PGR 2 was fun for a while(tons of replay I just don't like racing games) Midtown Madness 3 lasts a long time. Umm...I know I am forgetting a bunch.

Eh, the only reason I don't buy consols is that I'm a first person shooter fan and I need my mouse. Screw that joystick, takes forever to go from bottom right to top left :)

If you get used to it you can turn the senitivity way up. I knew people who had theirs maxed which is about twice the speed I use on PC games and they were accurate.

The replayability is not zero for most games. Many console games have a very high replayability level.

Unless you just meant that YOU believe most games don't hold a high enough replayability rate.

Although, games should never be made with replayability in mind. Atleast from my development perspective anyway.

Yes, that's what I meant, I should have worded it properly sorry..

k dude what side are you on ffs??? PC rules over consoles no matter what, ne1 who says otherwise needs to be beaten into submission

Use the quote option. And that's what I call biased :P

It's not about taking sides.. it's about how people prefer to play their games. Some can't afford decent gaming PCs, so they go with consoles. I play games on all platforms, so it doesn't matter to me. No, PC does not always beat out the consoles, as there are some great games out there that you can't play otherwise.

I believe the complete opposite :)

Why is that?

i think first person shooters are too hard to paly on the consoles

I shouldn't have to give you my points and reasons for why games shouldn't have to be about replayability. You should however, have to give me some points if you strongly believe that replayability makes the game.

I would much rather play a game like Metroid Prime, that is only about 13 hours in length, then another game that's average and has 80 hours of gameplay but isn't as good. Replayability only goes so far. The A+ titles which carry high end replayability are main stream RPGS, and online shooters.

Gamers are spoiled now' days. They want more more more. Replayability seems to be the most important factor in gaming, and it's really, really sad. Games like Max Payne 2, while A+ titles, get called "decent" by some gamers because it's too short? That doesn't make any sense. A games length should not justify it's worth.

I literally could write a 20 page essay on why replayability is not the most important factor in gaming.

Although, most of it would in fact be my opinion. It just angers' me that many gamers today ONLY seem to care about graphics and replayability. There are still many of the latter, but they seem to be constantly declining.

Whatever though...

I never implied replayability is the most important factor. And I love Max Payne 2 btw.

I just think depending on what type of game it is, replayability can be the most important factor. Obviously for MP it wasn't, but for a game like STALKER it probably will be.

I agree. For specific game types replayability IS the most important factor.

IE Shooters and RPGS. If you don't have multiplayer in a shooter anymore, you better bet your ass that the game is AMAZING. If RPGS arn't 30+ hours, you can pretty much assume that they are going to be meh...

Man, we're pretty far off-topic now so I'm going to stop my rant. I havn't slept in around 34 hours anyways.

Sorry if any of my writing is incorrect.

and morrowind was better on the PC.

True.

But GTA, Thief 3, Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia and Halo were all considerably better on consoles :)

I'm sure HL2 will be fine on the XBox (co-op woould be nice :), I know i'm geting Doom 3 on the Xbox aswell as the pc for that feature alone)

Ah, but the problem I have is when a good game concept (DX:IW comes to mind) is ruined for the PC, because the X-Box gets the game "dumbed down" in graphics and gamplay, and the title gets ported to PC, EXACTLY the same. Plus the fact that the XBox is just a dumbed down PC, and I'll stick to my PC, thanks .......

omg i completely agree. xbox is basically a compact PC with lower performance. DE:IW was developed on PC, then they decided they wouldnt have enough time to finish the xbox version, so they focused all their time on it instead. in the end, the pc version felt and looked like the xbox, with clumsy menu styles that felt like u needed a pad to play...its a absolute discrace and the developers should be ashamed of themselves.

Well, Warren Spector (The man who made the idiotic decision) was laid off be Ion Storm, If that's any condolance. But now they're doing System Shock 3 ...... the mind boggles on how many ways they could ruin it ...... :(

" Psi-Powers ? Oh, please, to ancient. Weapons Breaking ? To ancient as well. How about we slip in the bio-mod system, and remove the skill system like in DX:IW, and X-Box fans should have a blast ! "

if a game is released on all formats, it should be released on the king first (i know that sounds biased but i dont care). more time spent on pc development = less complaints on how the game could've and should've been

PC development first = Moaning from X-Box fanboys about "how better" it would've been on their console ......

rofl, tbh, i think x-box shouldn't have been released, as it uses pc hardware therefore allowing developers to become side tracked on their pc development. burn x-box.....burn

Ok I'm usually a reader of these forums and rarely if ever say anything back, but this bickering over wether xbox is a good platform to play x game or not ... I don't know, some arguments I've read just seem silly.

To say a PC or a Console is better than one or the other seems just like a stray comment. There's PC Games that can't offer the same experience as you'd have in a Console and vice versa and both platforms deserve their due credit.

I don't believe HL2 is possible on a PS2, seeing as to how the PS2 is really behind now in terms of hardware and how HL PS2 was such a complete marketing and sales failure. But I think it coming to Xbox very real considering that the Xbox takes liberties such as disk caching and most of DIrectX 8's functions in hardware. Also, the actual Xbox OS is 256k, meaning that even with its "measly" 64 megs of ram it can actually perform, or more precisely, run circles around a comparably equipped PC, even if down to hardware that is exactly what it is. Also HL2 Xbox would become Live!´s killer app, because for some reason and a lot of people feel the same, I get the feeling Halo 2 is gonna be an overhyped dissapointment. (Prove me wrong bungie)

HL2 has been primarily a PC game, but hey you know you a true HL fan you should welcome other people playing your favourite game. And I play both PC and console games, heck even Gameboy Advance games from time to time. A game that's fun is fun regardless of delivery platform.

lol i think youve shed new light on the subject. i agree that this bickering is pointless and any true gamer should not worry about platforms. its just that when games are developed on the pc and then get released on other platforms first, or at the same time for xbox and ps2, and then the pc version is delayed for like 2-3 weeks (DE:IW), just pisses me off sooooo much. console games are released, and then take years (over exagerated) to hit the pc market i.e. halo...thats my only argument tbh (ever waited for a release date, phoned the shop and found out that the pc version is delayed, but 'its out on xbox/ps2 if you want'??)

Well its obvious this won't be the case with HL2 and I get a feeling that for valve it might be more a priority to release CS:Source than HL2. That way it can get on its way to tackle CS2, TF2 and all those little games they've been promising will come out since 98-99.

And don't forget all games are made on PC's now, not just PC Games, console games begin deveopment on the pc with the dev kit just as a step towards publishing. True DX2 sucked, but hey you know what? I just came from this market where I go to trade games, and guess which game I traded away? i swapped it for Gladius. A half assed development is still half assed, regardless of platform, Deus Ex 2 sucked as bad on the xbox as it did on the pc and I don't even wanna talk about frame rate issues. I hear that thief 3 has that exact same problem :P

I am all for bungie's dev phylosophy of "Theres good and there's good enough, we only "do" the good." not following a similar coda has pushed Ion Storm to start breaking up. You'll see a lot of the mediocre studios shake up like that at some point.

I just want HL2 to be released. that's it.
