Half life 2 synergy mod servers or any steam game servers

I know this is a really ridiculous and out of the ordinary question but i have to ask.
How do i find servers on the half life 2 synergy mod
or find servers in any steam game?
i'm new to this i've never played on steam before
i had installed Counter strike and half life 2 and episode 2 legitly but i don't know how to find servers
I'd see the option but none pop up on internet or LAN

Right click steam in your notification bar>servers>game>Synergy(or another game of choice). Make sure you're in the 'internet' tab and you didn't choose uncommon filter options.
