Half-Life 2

I just purchased Half Life 2 and came with 5 discs. I didn't even make it past the first disc and this message came up. ERROR 1305. Error reading from file: C:\Program Files\Valve\SteamApps\base sorce shared materials.gcf. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it. I did disable everything such as Norton Internet 2006,screen saver and desktop theme and I don't know what the problem is.

I never bought the retail HL2, so I'm not sure. Did you install Steam?

Install steam from steampowered.com and then try installing. If that doesn't work, I think there's a warranty.
