Half way through registering with steam when CRASH occured!

Hello. Please can someone help me. I bought a copy of HL2 (counter strike included) and installed with no probs. Then went to steam as you should and began the registration process. Half way through the reg my system crashed. Then when i went back to steam to start again it appears my copy had already been reg'd but i can now not use it!!!!.

I cant reg and i havn't finished reg.........help!!!!

Strange... Are you sure you BOUGHT it? Not accusing you of piracy or anything , but still. If you are telling the truth then i would go with Vegeta's answer.

I bought the game more than 90 days ago. More than 2 years ago to be fair. it all went wrong back then and i just never got round to sorting it out. Am i screwed?

plus, if i stole it i wouldn't need the reg code reset.

Wait , it went wrong and then you waited to get it sorted? Hmm , looks like you might have a bit of trouble , but i suppose you could go to the steam web site and register again with a different account and put HL2 on it (no you wont have to buy it again).

Hmmm. I've just checked out there support site. they say that with out a digital copy of the reciept (proof of purchase) within the last 90 days they will not move the reg code to another account. i'm thinking that with the reg code allredy allocated to the account i originally set up i might have a problem.

have you used the game before or did you just now open it. they stop selling the hl2 and css pack about 2 years ago.

Hmm , sorry to say this but it looks to me like you have to set up another steam account and buy another copy of HL2. Or i suppose you can e-mail valve explaining your situation and hopefully they will understand. I dont know. Good luck to you.

No. I was registering it as part of the install. Thats when it went wrong. I have actually never played hl2. which sucks alot!
