Halflife2 Deatchmatch crashes plz help

When im playing HL2 DM it crashes.
The screen freezes and the sound keeps repeating very fast.
I got a new soundcard but the problem isnt gone.
System-3500+ 1gig 6800GT.
What causes the problem?????
