*Hammer Black Screen Workaround!*
OK i was doing some reading around the forums, and i found someone had a problem in game with getting black screens.
His temporary solution was to turn off support for DXT texture formats.
So i tried the same (Not sure where the setting is for Nvidia Cards)
For ATI Cards
1. Open ATI Catalyst Control Center
2. Click the "View" tab at the top left, and choose "Advanced View"
3. From the Graphics settings list on the left, choose 3D
4. From that menu choose "API Specific"
5. Un-tick the box "Support DXT texture formats, "Apply" then "OK"
6. Open Hammer, and you should have your textures visible.
From what i understand, turning this feature off, turns off most of the DX9 stuff like the shiny floors and runs in DX8.
But hey.... If your like me, and the beta just ain't your cuppa tea, and you wanna get mapping, do the above.
