Did you know that even though modern sex change surgeons are able to successfully create an artificial vagina, complete with labia, clitoris and all the rest (clit modified from the penis glas, I believe), the body, not originally female, treats the cleft as a wound? It tries to heal it, and if you don't keep regularly widening it yourself, there's a danger that it will eventually close up.
