well, I haven't actually played the original Half-Life,so correct me if I'm wrong, but, from what I gather, the Headcrabs mother (big momma) was killed, and she was the one that produced the headcrabs
so, why are there still so many of them?
also, aren't the Headcrab pods shot out by the combine?
so why do the soldiers always battle the headcrabs?

Was Gonarch the headcrab hivemother? I'm there are others, or the combine have found a way to breed/clone them. The soldiers fight the headcrabs because they are not on the side of the combine, they merely attck anything that moves.

then how do the combine pack several headcrabs into each pod/rocket?
or is that machine operated, and the machine controlled by a stalker, which arouses a new question, will we maybe see a stalker zombie ever?

A stalker zombie would pwn so hard!...Stalkie...Zomker...?

The entire system could be operated. One would never need to come into contact with them.

Fire a bunch of shells at a resistance outpost.
Citizens, likely unarmed and cought off guard, are attacked.
Some become zombies.
Many are killed by shells / zombies.
Survivors scattered into the winds.
Slow, mindless zombies are easier to kill than humans.

The "Big Momma" AKA Gonarch was just one of many of them. In theroy, any headcrab could become a Gornarch, but the mortalatiy rate is very high with headcrabs.

Headcrabs are wild. It's like sticking Rabid Dogs in the pods. They attack enemies but arn't freindly to the deploying side.

There is an unused model of a Gonarch sack tied to machines, probably how the Combine produces them.

Aye, the Combine have Gonarch sacs hooked up to generators that stimulate production of baby headcrabs. Quote from my headcrab article:

The combine can manufacture a steady supply of headcrabs by collecting the egg sacs from a still-living gonarch, and hooking it up to a machine that stimulates the birth of more headcrabs. In this way, they might even be able to control the type of headcrabs that are born. After retrieving the egg sac, the gonarch will be discarded (if it does not already die from removal of the egg sac, it will be killed by the combine).

No, combine found a way to breed 'em.

You see, after the Black Mesa accident, all the headcrabs were jailed. Then one day, they were in shower. A headcrab named Billy dropped his soap.

And what do you know?
You got little headcrabs. With two daddies.

You sound like TBW.

It wasn't the only Gonarch. Just one of them.

And yeah, as Darkie said, they basically used the sacs from Big Mommas and reproduced their own headcrabs, genetically altering them (I assume, unless there were already Spider/Poison headcrabs around)
