hey im pretty new to headphone tech and hav bin doin a bit of research and have found out a bit about them but i have a few questions

1) is there much difference in sound quality between open and closed sets

2) Everyone seems to b saying go for the Sennheisers but i've bad things about them.

3) Has anyone had good experiences with the Sennheiser PX200 or the Sennheiser 497. I want to use them with my Creative Zen 30GB jukebox and on my pc for games i listen to a broad range of music ranging from heavy metal to acoustic and vocal music such as Jeff Buckley and Jonh Butler sometimes bit of Rap and Techno.

So anyone got any suggestions thanks alot

Sennheiser = Over rated/priced shit. Try Grado or Beyerdynamic. Before I bought my headphones every one was like "omg omg buy teh scheiser!". Well I went to listen 'em (the 600 I think it was), and compared to the Grado or Beyerdynamic, the HD-600 sounded like ûber-shitty-shit. And the Grados and Beyerdynamics model were like 100€-150€ cheaper. Open headphones are usualy better for your ears. But there is one thing in Grados, they might not fit to your ears or head (test 'em and you will see), but in sound they are superior.

So my last words "NO SENNHEISER!"

Oo, where can I see those headsets in Finland? I am looking fo something for my comp and for my MP3 player. I also listen to a wide range of music.

if you want a good, cheap set of headphones (it has a very nice quality mic on it as well, for CS and whatnot) then get the plantronics dsp .90. It's about $30, plus it's got great sound quality and an excellent microphone.

sennheisers are the best headphone makers nothings wrong with them
ive heard bad things about plantronics but not sennheisers

yer well i dun wanna spend more than $150 Australian. Didn't no that closed headsets aren't good for u so thanks for that and yer i have that sennheisers are often overrated and over priced so wat model do u recon i should get in the grados i dun wanna get a really cheap pair are these plantronics compareable

GRADOS RE AWESOME!
I gotta pair of the cheapest ones the sr60s, and they blow me away day after day with their sound for their price. For gaming though, you should look at a good pair of closed headphones, for tighter bass and better isolation. A (very) cheap option is Koss UR20s or something- it aint worth spending too much on computer headphones.

Maxikana http://www.mrhifi.fi atleast from there you can get Beyerdynamics and Grado, the dt531 (beyerdynamic) is AWSOME! But Maxikana theres one thing, it's better to order them from America or something. The Grado sr80 were like 169€ in Finland, but when my friend ordered 'em from America they were like 80-90€ with shipping!

Haven't tested the sr60 model, but it's grado so it must be good! But I can recommend the sr80 (superb).

And the Sennheiser definetly is not the best headphone maker (it's not even close)!! I can't understand what makes it so "good"? Every model I have tested wasn't even 100 miles close to Grado or Beyerdynamic. If you say Sennheiser the best, then you haven't heard the Grado Rs2 or Rs1 -model.

lol well the problem is i haven't heard a decent pair of headphones yet as i am very new to the scene :P and nah i wasn't sayin sennheiser was the bomb just goin off wat everyone else is tellin me. So i'm guessin i should go the GRADO or Beyerdynamics anyone no sum good models for under $150 AUS

PEACE

Hmmm, I like my sennheisers and I;ve never used grados before... Maybe I'll try some when i need a new set.
I have never heard a complaint about grado, so go with them Meta|

thanks mate well i think that settles it Grado it is but which model i've heard the SR60 is an awesome set for the price

Buying the sr60 or sr80, you can't go wrong. But I recommend you try those headphones before buying them. Some of my friends have said that they were awsome in sound, but didn't fit to their ears.

yer well i just had a look at them and they look very ugly and to b honest i wouldn't wear them out in public so i'm thinkin bout gettin a cheaper pair of those in canal bud for the mp3 player and the sr60 for home
