K I Get meh Radeon 9800 Pro for my comp finnaly :S but still havnt got comp to play it on... the card is probs faster than this crap.

well anyway sum1 mtold me that AMD is better than Intel? :( and it kinda got me confused becuase i always thought intel were better jsut a tiny bit dearer.

i was also told if i got 2800+ Barton i wud have to get sum DDR233 Ram ur sumthing :( and its kinda slow..

and the guy also said i shudnt run one harddrive @ SATA get 2 of them (2x60gb) so that they can run @ 150mb x2.. Summet about Stripeing them

Is this true i really dont know anythign about comps but im starting to learn :)

AMD isn't better than Intel, they both are as good, though Intel lasts longer mostly because its big core (you can't destroy it while installing the heatsink) also Intel runs cooler.
AMD costs less, runs hotter, has tiny core that can break, it's good.
Intel costs more, runs cooler, has bigger core that can't break, it's good.

Quality with money.

DDR233 (PC2100) isn't really slow (I'm using it myself), but I'd suggest saving a little bit and buying faster memory.

Dunno about that SATA but I'd say it's bulls***, even if it's true SATA is faster than the Hard-Drive connected to it.

Yeah, it's true. S-ata is more for show. You can't really use the extra speed. All the benchmarks i have seen say that there is no point in upgrading to it yet.

He's talking about setting them up in raid 0. Two harddisks that act like one, and that're also only the size of one. It's true that it is much faster, but if you don't know much about pc's, I think you'd better stay away from it. It can cause random insanity to set it up properly, and if one of both drives ever fail, you lose all data(!!!) and can't just buy another hdd to replace it, since it needs to be two identical hddrives, so you'll have to reconfigure it all for regular IDE usage (causing more insanity).

Furthermore, Intel is more stable than amd, but everything gets more expensive. I say go for amd, unless you're planning to make it a server or something that has to be running 100% of the time. But the speeds of both are equal(i think amd is a itsy bitsy faster in benchmarks).
Buy good ram, at least ddr333, it's important for good ssssmoothnesssss in games. If you can afford 400, go for it. Also, make sure you buy them by 2(identical), since the D in DDR stands for DUAL, meaning they work best when in couple. Most people seem not to be aware of this, but it can give up to 10% gain in speed.

When you buy a pc, try to have someone with you who knows about these things. It could save you 1000$.

:) Kewl thx guys got £1000 to spend on this new comp... about $1800 so im gunna go with AMD does the FSB of the intel make that much of a diff...

and im gunna forgot about DUAL Harddrives seems its gunna be a pain in the ass

Also any1 recommend a good Mobo for a AMD? and what about Lan Party are they good
