Hi fellas, my first post.
Im trying to decide wether to get the the standard retail box for 54.99 or the collectors ed. for 79.99 and I do want to play the original HL. I would of gotten the silver from steam for 59.99 but I have no internet.

1) Is it worth it to pay the extra $25 just for HL:S(since all the other contents of the collectors ed is crap) or just get a used original version for $5-10 on ebay?

2) In the pcgamer us, it says that they are using the blue shift models which are higher resolution. Anyone know any sources that can confirm this? .... and how much of a difference would it make?

*When my history teacher asked the blonde sitting next to me, "Who bombed Pearl Harbor?", she confidently replied, "The Hawaiians??!!"

1) Depends how much you value the time you'd spend to hunt HL1 down. If it were me, I'd probably buy HL1 for cheap, download the rest of the stuff from Steam, and get the standard retail. I doubt you'll want HL:s after playing HL1, since it's no different and IMHO Hl1 doesn't have a great deal of replay value anyway.

sorry to say this mate, but you are required to have an internet connection to verify that your copy of the game is ligit. Either you go to someones house with the net and log in via that?? Overwise i'm not sure what you can do i'm affraid. Gl :)

jesus christ do u really need other people deciding what package u go for?

get a life

Remember you need the internet to activate the retail game. Get someone to burn you a DVD of the cache files and buy Silver on Steam.
