Help me, trouble when install ...

Help me plz
When I install HL2 from DVD game the computer get error 6005 and its said (don't remember exactly)
1. Closed any program are running
2. Temporary folder must be empty
3. Internet connection
But I can install HL2 in my other computer. Can anybody help me?

you tried those 3 things right?

Try restarting? Safe mode might do it. Sounds like its trying to access some files that are being used, make sure all your applications are closed, even background ones.

Have you had this error with other games/programs, or just this one? And is the error a windows error box, with the ! or the X, or is it a steam error (would be a green colored box or whatever color your steam program is).

I tried 2 things but the internet.
I'm trying to install HL2 in my new computer (don't have any program except windowsXP SP2) It doesn't work.
I have 2 computer, one in my room and other in guest room and both of them don't have internet connection. I can install HL2 on my old with windows 98se. But get error with other in both of win 98se and XP SP2 (order from microsoft last week).
