Help Wanted: Top down hack-n-slash

Me and my friend are just getting into modding and we have finally figured out what we want to do. We want to make a diablo type game with the HL2 engine. We know its possible because almost all the elements are already there in darwinia, the top-down element and the mouse click actions.

We just need to find out how to get started, simply learning how to see Gordon from a top down camera angle and having him attempt to move straight to a location with a left mouse click would be wonderful.

Any advice or helpful links?

Darwinia is not running on the Source engine.

There is a open source mod that let you turn hl2 into a sidescroller/ top down/whatever. I don't have the URL just now though... I might come back with that.

They don’t appear to have set up the weapons correctly and also it appears to be a multiplayer mod. There is nothing new here but I guess it’s a good source for beginners.

I coded the topdown bit, but the recent source update broke it :shh:

I might install Half-Life 2 and see if I cant fix up this patch a little bit.
