Whenever I try and open half life 2 it goes fine until the screen after the picture of the guy and then I catch a brief picture of something then it minimizes itself and when I try to maximize it again all it does is zoom in on my screen and there is a little light blue box with half life 2 in it and the top right of my screen O_O help?:sniper::flame:

Can you be more specific? What's your hardware (Graphics card, Processor, amount of RAM, type of RAM (DDR2 or 3), and what version of Vista? (64 or 32 bit)

Vista 64 intel core 2umm... I'm not very computer savvy but I remember this thing having more then enough RAM & graphics. Bought in 2007 and has no problems play games like spore I can find exact system specs if you want

Got it to work... Kinda I waited a really long time after it went black then it went to a start screen so I pressed new game and then it took a while to load and after that it was at that screen with the guys head and right after he says something about sleeping on the job the thing freezes and goes from a lighter shade of black to a pure black and back again for a while then the screen goes blue the computer says something went wrong and I reboot. While it was going black I saw something about a driver failing and then recovering again O_O Not quite sure what it said

That's gotta be the longest sentence I've tried to read in a long while... I almost suffocated.

Source games seem to try and reload everything when you restore them (from minimized), meaning they can take a long time. Sometimes it's hard to tell whether it's broked or not.

Not to be prejudiced against Vista or anything, but I have a little experience with it, and usually it gives me problems with Steam games. Every so often I'll get a message after I've crashed to desktop saying, "HL2.exe is not responding," or something to that extent. It'll be at random times in the game when I'll least expect it. I also have problems with Team Fortress 2 when I'm loading up the game. The logo screen will come up, and then the game will instantly minimize and sometimes mess up my icons.

I've noticed these problems are quite common with Vista users, but not so much for people using XP, so if it's a Vista-related issue, I can't say.
