HEV Suit

I just got HL:2, and i'm at the part where you put on the HEV suit, but it wont let me, i've tried everything I can think of. Can someone please tell me what I am missing because this is driving me crazy.

Did you enable any cheats before getting to that part? If you give yourself all weapons for example, you'll be given the HEV suit automatically and won't be able to pick up an existing suit.

Otherwise, load up the second chapter again ("Red Letter Day") from the main menu. Might be a bug in that case.

I've had that before when I was screwing around with cheats and stuff. Its funny they sit their saying "put your suit on Gordon" again and again.

And besides, you won't encounter any deadly enemies 'till you get your HEV suit - cheats are useless.

Also using impulse 101 that early means you spoil yourself using all the weapons, which you will progressively get anyway, and would be very silly. For the solution do as Gfree suggested.

And indeed, do yourself a favour and play through the game without any cheats. Playing through it for the first time is something you can only do once, it'd be silly to spoil the experience.

Even if you're a noob, playing HL2 on 'easy' skill level should'n present a big difficulty.

It is fun. Cheats suck mega-time. There is no need for them and you should be able to get through HL2 in ease. Even if your not an experienced gamer. It is far easier than HL1.

Using cheats is basiclly the only thing that causes that problem.

guys, I was using cheats, I fixed the problem. As far as ruining the experience and what not, I'm just playing around, this isn't my game of choice, I bought it for my dad. i'm more of an Oblivion person

I just got Half-Life 2 about three days ago. It was great. Impossible to describe with my limited vocabulary. Once I got it, I kept on playing and went all the way up to 'Our Benefactors' and finished the rest next day. Heck, if I was more inclined, I'd say it was a computer simulated orgasm... FOR FIVE HOURS, MAYBE MORE.
