This fact is already known. No one knows how and when will it be released, and with which package (I mean HL2:Special Ed. or not).

Anyways, try using the 'search' option next time, and try to look for keywords that might get an answer for your question.

If you have a HL cd-key and Steam, you can play Op4 for free, no need for any cd's.

And about HL:S looking better, I assume the maps will have smoother brushwork here and there, are recompiled with new lightmaps and use per vertex lighting, so better lighting, don't know though if textures are updated though, but the Valve artists are bound to have higher res versions of the textures they used for HL lying around, they never paint textures at 128x128 or smaller. But don't expect anything shocking.

I wonder if we could have a "Common Knowledge Thread" where we could have a long post or series of posts that list the essential facts that most everyone that joins the forums should know (basically everything that people ask over and over). We could then add to the thread everytime a breakthrough happens or when a certain topic reaches multiple threads. Then, before posting, a person could check that one thread to see if his/her idea has been voiced before.

I meant to have a thread that has the infamous HL2 casemod, the fake HL2 cds, the CS: Source binks, any other media or happens that people repeatedly post about.

Then people could check the thread and think "Oh someone already posted about these fake HL2 cds that I just now found out about" and wont post again.

Sorry for this thought to be included in this thread. I don't believe it deserves its own post. To go back on topic, I am looking forward to HL1 on the Source engine along with the other mods that will be converted as well.

But currently, no one really knows when it will go gold, so asking will only get you more confused than before....

yeah Half-Life on Source will be released sometime when HL2 comes out. Maybe with the Collectors Edition though.
