I don't have Raising the Bar, so I woudln't know how much of this is news to some of you people. Either way, there's some cool little facts that you can find out here. Did you know the Overwatch announcer also narrated Total Annihilation?

My first thread here, I think. Hello!

It was speculated that the reason for the game being delayed from September 2003 to November 2004 was because the source code was stolen. This is not true. The delay was actually because the game would not be finished in September 2003, and the source code theft was just a bad coincidence.

Is this for real?

it could be since the source code was rubbish or maybe the source code wasn't everything they had

The reason for the delay was that HL2 simply wasn't finished, as well as having to hack-proof the Source engine.

Yes, it's real. It's a common misconception that the source code leak delayed the game. It certainly didn't help matters but even if the source code leak didn't happen, we still wouldn't have seen the game in Sept 2003.

^What Chris said.

The game simply wasn't finished on Sept 30th.

Yep, and to set the record straight once and for all, read Gamespot's feature on the making of Half-Life 2. Gabe flat out says that he arbitrarily made up the date to spur his team forward.

Valve just kept changing the game too much. The game WAS propably finished by that time but Valve started scraping ideas and adding new things because they didn't like the original ones for some reason. They propably went "Hey, we finished the game, let's start selling it now... wait, naaah, that's Bull, lets redo everything."

The game was NOT finished by that time. The stolen beta of HL2 is almost exactly what they had at that point. I haven't downloaded the beta, but I've read about it enough, and everyone says that it's very unfinished.

Rubbish! I remember that game, and it was a gruff-voiced MAN who narrated the title sequence.

I haven't played it for years, literally, so I can't remember. But i'm pretty sure the in-game announcer or whatever was female? Maybe if i'm right, that's what they're talking about.

They are called voice actors m8.... They are supposed to sound completely unique in everything they star in :P I mean if you find a professional voice actor's demo reel, they can do some completely wierd things with their voice and all... Pretty neat :)

15 years ago, theoretical physicist Gordon Freeman saved the world. In doing so, he made Earth a very appealing target. Today, he returns to the world many blame him for, to fight an enemy which defeated humanity in seven hours. Not a soul knows that the legendary "Free Man" is the same confused scientist from Black Mesa.

Fortunatly, I have attempted to correct this wrong information by humbly submitting a correction to IMDB.
