I was wondering if there were any HL2 singleplayer cooperative mods where you can fight the singleplayer game with a friend??

Sounds fun, but Alyx can only wake up only 1 Gordon Freeman, and theres only 1 suit, and 1 crowbar :p

Look around a bit, then you will see news about them kind of mods.

Yeah... sven co-op Rocks... you team with people and sometimes you guys need to crouch on each other to get to some place, Hey drackard ill play with you some time soon :)

For gods sake people answer the damn question lol

Tim Coop: Random Co-op fun on HL2DM-inspired maps.

SYNERGY: Play on a few actual HL2 levels, lots of other levels already released or in beta. A lot of new weapons and skins!

or jsut wait till sven coop 2 comes out, should have it playable on there

Last level on HL2 in Sven COOP 2 would be Dreamlike...

Stationed people to ward off combines....
everyone shooting at the reactor...
*drool* :imu: :cheese: :hmph: :borg: :dozey: :dork: :)

Co-Op games never work like that. Hell knows that the last map will involve whoever connects first bunny/trick jumping to the top in 5 seconds, pounding the reactor and completing the game before the last people are even in the level. The entire citadel section of the game could well be very, very boring. It was easy enough with one person, more than that will just be a doddle, or an irratating mess if people can friendly-fire kill you.

Haven't played much coop, have you? You should play Sven for HL1 a bit, and find a good server. You'll be surprised what you can accomplish if you decide to take leadership and start talking with VOIP.

So then change the map so that it takes more hits to win 0_o The Sven Coop team are excellent, they know good Coop chemistry, they've been doing it for I don't know how many years. And it will not dissapoint. Besides, custom maps will be the mainly played ones in SC2. The SP levels are usually buggy because there is a ton of stuff to do to get it working in multiplayer.

Sven Coop and a Good Server? Such things exist? And yes i've played loads of bloody co-op, and i've never seen the actual necessity for VOIP tactics. It's just one guy jumping and running to the levelload 95% of the time.

But as you go on to say, they don't actually iron out the proper single player campaign to make it playable? (Blast Pit for instance has some crazy arsed behaviours that is compounded by the bunny hoppers). Sven 1's custom maps make me cry. Blood. So i'm not sure what standards i'm supposed to believe they'll reach. Regardless, my point is that the type of gameplay GordonFreeman911 dreams about is rarely, if ever what actually happens. Sure it'll be a good mod to play through, but I can see that last section being quite dull. Hell, it wasn't all that exciting in HL2, so SC clearly has its work cut out.

Yeah, Sven Co-op is much better with friends. People who won't bunnyhop to the end of the level while the other 10 people are fighting the first few enemies, or follow you around smacking you in the face with a crowbar.

Play with friends, not with strangers :P

QFT ;) I always played it with some mates and not randoms, made it so much more fun, especially when ya all on the same ts2 aswell :P

Tim Co-op and Synergy lack the depth and interesting-ness that Sven Co-op had.

Primarily because of the fact that the overwhelming majority of the maps were "HOLD THE BLOODY FORT/PROTECT THIS VIP!" maps instead of, oh say, actual CO-OP? C'mon, learn from Sven and utilize it in your mod!

It's not much of a mod since all the maps work the same in deathmatch.

Unfortuantly, I have friends who play that way anyway :P You can't blame them. It's the same as what happens in Unreal-series Assault games. There may be multiple ways to do things, but why bother with the others when there is one way that is so much quicker than the rest? Eliminating the easy option... mods need to work on that above most other things.

Anyone else feel that if sven-coop 2 takes any longer, it'll miss the boat? Really wish Valve would sort out whatever it is SC needs them to sort out...

I was hyped for Sven Coop 2 for a long time, but I just don't care anymore. I mean, wasn't SC 3.5 supposed to come out.. years ago? And it's STILL not out. I'm beginning to come to terms with the fact that the released co-op mods for HL2 are shit, and we may never see SC2. ;(

SC is just too damn random though. Half of the maps on a server are retarded stuff (maps, enemies, crazy bunnyhopping and people) and I haven't even played HL1 Co-Op before.

There are some servers on HL2 Deathmatch that host Co-op maps though. Those are just insane.

Yeah, the Sven playing community have really developed their own subculture. They like to have fun above all else, which is a result of having played all the maps over and over, and it losing the seriousness that you want when you first play.

lol, wtf? Half of the maps on a server are maps? Half of the maps on the server are enemies? Half of the maps on the server are people? Not only does that not make any sense, but what is wrong with a server having maps, enemies, and people? Isn't that what a server is in the first place?

And running while jumping != bunnyhopping.
