HL2 Crash When loading levels

So, my HL2 crashes. Yeah, you've probably seen this before. I need serious help though

I've gone through all the tweaking guides for HL2 and my video card. Nothing works!

I skipped the first level "Point Insertion" because when the HALF LIFE 2 graphic is showing, the game freezes and dies.

Now I've gotten to where Alyx opens the vending machine so I can walk into the lab. I'm in the doorway, and it freezes. Well, thats great. -exits out-

This is the error I get:

This ONLY freezes once I walk into the door. If I wait around, it dosnt freeze.

Please help!

They are all up to date, and all my other 3d games work. JKO2, HL1...etc...etc...

I only get this when I play mods like Half Life 2:Substance. I really have no idea how to fix it, but you could try using "cl_forcepreload 1"

I tried that, but it didnt work...

I went so far as to cheat...
I used Impulse 101, and shot a file cabnet through the doorway, nothing stuttered, worked fine.

So then, I restart the game (because I walked through the threshold)

Unclocked my video card, and rebooted the computer.

I killed ALL programs that werent System essential. I had 23 running.

I though, Heck, Why dont I just noclip into the other room? Great! It works! all the things for the next room appeared! I thought I was going! But Alyx dosnt walk in and trigger the sequence because you didnt walk through the vending machine...-sigh-

I did keep the developer window open to see what was happening, and it said it couldnt load my autoexec.cfg file, and another file was write only, Is this bad?

No, it seems quite alright. I think you can trigger a certain action with the console, but I haven't the faintest idea what it would be. You could ask that at the Steam forums, maybe they know more.

But maybe it's a simple corruption error. Have you tried validating?

Eh, they are the same as ATI's basicly, just tweaked.

Just recently my computer has started crashing each time I play Half Life 2.
I'm lucky if I get through one scene without it doing so and was wondering
if there was any reason for this. I've completed it twice beforehand on
this system with no probs but now it seems for no reason to be crashing all
the time and it taking ages to get anywhere. Can you help please?
