HL2 crashes to desktop

when im playing hl2, it crashes to desktop when i quit and i have to restart. i know its not my computer because i've beaten it like 4 times already fine. if it is my computer its not because of my hardware. i hear a error message sound, not the message, a sound of an error and it freezes where i saved it or wherever. what the fuk is the problem

Did you recently update your drivers? Some people's HL2 has been acting oddly after they updated their ATI Catalyst drivers.

no. i had ati catalyst 6.5 because they didnt have any newer drivers for my card. but now they got 6.11 i tried that driver and it has a black bar on top of my screen and display is set down i cant move it. so i had to system restore and it put me to 6.4.

hl2 worked fine that past 4 times with ati catalyst. last time i tried omega my system kept restaring. i think it was cuz i didnt install my old ones first. but i had omega drivers a while back and my system was all laggy.

Eh. Sounds like half life 1. Half Life 1 full of echoes. audio settings and switch whatever you think is wrong there. thats how i fised my half life 2
