HL2 Error

Hey

I don't know how things work around here, simply because I usually don't spend my time here. So don't shoot me if I'm doing something wrong now. ^_^

Anyway...

Directly after being chased by that helicopter in the beginning of the game (in City 17) and entering the map after that one, I get this error message:

Host_Error: CMapLoadHelper::Init, map models/props_pipes/pipe03_straight01_long.mdl has wrong identifier​

The error message doesn't look that evil, so I just though perhaps someone of you might know what's wrong here (considering how many there are making mods and maps for HL2, someone should be able to understand this). (And yes, I was hesitating wheter I'd post this thread here or in the mod-section.)

I've already checked the steam-support-site without finding any useful help. Before I go on asking Valve about this, I just though there might be a chance someone here know what to do.

I came up with a solution myself...

I removed source models.gcf in \Valve\Steam\SteamApps\, forcing steam to download that file again...

Obviously the old file was corrupt, since efterthing is working now.

Well, good job on finding it yourself!


Someone was probably going to post a link that validates your steam files for you, which checks for any corruptions etc I believe.

Good to see you got it all worked out.
