Will HL2 support Force Feedback (FF)? There is so much more to gameplay than seeing and hearing. Such as FF joystick support and there is also a FF VEST that I am dying to buy and use.. I can't think of a better game to support FF than HL2 so PLEASE TELL ME IT SUPPORTS FF!!?? :)

I am also in VR development and would love to encourpreate FF into one of my VR simulations using HL2..

Let me know, private reply if you want or just post here please. Thanks!

Hey Pressure! Thanks for the reply. Um, I don't mean this to sound disrespectful, so take it with a grain of salt: who are you to say that yes it will have FF support, and where did you find this out?

Thanks again!

Poor Akula. You must really wonder what kind of strange place you've come to.

You'd better do a search for feedback through the "e-mails by valve thread"(you know, the big one, with a lot of views). If that don't work, e-mail gabe (go to the valve corporate website for adres).

Good luck, and let us now, ok.

There's a force feedback vest then?! Sounds intense!

Cheers

Force Feedback, not Friendly Fire.

i cant be sure but i think the guy was being sarcastic. its hard to tell when its been typed and not spoken

One of those vests would scare the shit out of me.. imagine sneaking through a dark hallway, all is silent.. then suddenly a headcrab jumps at you with that nasty sound and your vest goes berserk.. pretty much like when someone pokes you when you thought you were alone. Scary stuff.
There are FF mouses too you know.

Okay, NOW I MUST GET ONE!

Please post a link to an online vendor that sells these vests... :afro:

lolz
the vest must be awesome
they better work with hl2
erm.....
well i guess this is the vest http://www.vrealities.com/intervest.html
although thats a backpack like thing
not a vest, its teh only thing i could find
they r also selling it with some kind of doom 3 VR pack/bundle

That "vest" would work with any game as it apparently reacts to sound.

Thank you for the correct usage of "mouses". (seriously)

Yes the vest-backpack thingy at http://www.vrealities.com/intervest.html is the one I was referring to. Although after second look it may not be as "cool" as it first seemed, I still am sooooo going to get one for HL2 ;)

Since everyone is talking about FF, does anyone ever get tired of using mouse + keyboard? I was thinking of creating a prototype two handed machine gun controller + directional foot pedal. Would this be better than mouse + keyboard or is it a bad idea? Thanks!!

I'm still waiting for them to get 3D glasses for computer games that actually work well. A friend bought some once and said they didn't work very well and ended up returning them.

I've got a "force feedback" vest. It's horribly painful to wear, and every time a loud sound happens in the game world it makes this ridiculous noise like a toy machine gun and either vibrates slightly or attemps to give you CPR :E ...

Falcon (Nate), it depends on the TYPE of 3D glasses you use, there are simple blue/red glasses which suck, or there are the electric-polarized film glasses, these work much better. Also there are some 3D steroscopic LCD displays, but they cost $1500...

Does anyone have a link to FF mouses? I looked on newegg and can't find any. The only drawback to an FF mouse, obviously, would be how it would shake your aim when you're firing, and disadvantage you more tahn other people (if playing online).

Definately looks familiar, theAkula. Mine's in a box in the sunroom somewhere, so I can't get to it. But the appearance and name are very familiar...
