HL2 freezes at same spot everytime

Hi, im running HL2 on a dell inspiron 6000 notebook and I've gotten CS:S to run just fine now, with very little problems, but I can't play HL2. Whenever i start a new game, it goes through the scene with gman talking then as it shows the subway or bus or whatever, the screen goes white, then the sound loops and the game freezes up. I don't know what to do and I really wanna play:frown: :frown:

Specs:

1.86ghz Centrino

1ghz SDRAM

128mb ATI radeon x300

I tried updating drivers to vid and sound cards but it finds no updates.

Well, your hardware seems quite alright...
Have you tried validating? steam://validate/220
