Hey! I've just got my new half life 2, and I've been having problems since the start. When i enter/exit to large areas (fields, open areas, large rooms) my game lags- A LOT. Along with the sound too. It's Weird because when i enter small areas, the game returns to normal. Any ideas? A little tip would be great, thanks for the help guys!

Here's my system:

windows vista
Mobo: aspire M5600
processor: Intel(r) Core(TM)2 CPU 4400@ 2.00GHz
1gb ram
256 integrated intel 946Gz Chip video card
total graphics mem: 250
sys video memory: 60
refreshrate: 60

oh, and i did update my graphic driver.

plus, every time i have to fight, it lags very bad, like 10fps.

i think it's new. I bought my computer 2 weeks ago.

The moment i fight/shoot at enemies, it starts to lag really bad. I'm even playing in a 1024x768 resolution.

all you need is a new video card. a games performance dosent matter how new of a system it is;its whats inside the system that counts.

yea your gf card sucks huge balls, never trust built in cards.

man, i was thinking it would be convenient to have an integ vid card. well, thanks guys!

BTW, can anyone recommend a good video card for hl2? my computer's accer built, model name ASPIRE M5600, i don't really know the name of my mother board.

Thanks again! I'm really dying to play hl2, right now, it's just killing my eyes. XD

you can support a pci-express video card so that is a great thing. what i would recommend to you is a 7600gt or a 6600 variant.

The 7600gt would be the better option, the 6600 has a bunch of video codec problems that causes some video types to lag

the 7600gt will totally be better, but my dad has a 6600 and it works just fine. that will run half life 2 no problem if you dont have the exta cash to put out, just make sure you get a quality brand.

is that the max GPU his processor can handle without bottlenecks? maybe he is looking for something more high end?

no i picked the mid ranged cards because im basically assuming he has an matx case which cant hold big ass cards. also the 6600 and the 7600gt are excellent cards. heck the 7600gt can play source maxed with aa and af at 1280x1024 with smooth performance.

rofl no shit its better then the 8600gt.....
i would choose 7900gs or x1950pro over 8600 variant anyday even the gts. dont bring ' it has dx10' arguement in here either lol
