I think VALVe cut out a lot of things. Most of my disappointment (what little there was) came from not being able to experience things as in the binks.
1. No cool music in the area with the crane (transplanted to the Water Hazard chapter).
2. There are no Combine soldiers in that one area in Ravenholm. No traps to kill the Combine, either (throwing a nade under the dumpster, or shooting out the swinging piece of wood, etc.).
3. No area with a soda machine that you can destroy and unleash a torrent of metal cans down a staircase.
4. No area like the bink showing off the striders (where Freeman rides down an elevator, sees the Citadel move ahead slowly, and then sees a Strider come over a hill of debris, chasing resistance members).
I also played the leaked version and noticed they took out even more things...
5. No houndeyes, bullsquids, weird zombie things with lasers on their forehead (stalkers?), and Combine Guardians (basically a combine mech suit, which looked pretty sweet). Of course, no hydra either.
6. No portable Gauss gun.
7. I forget the name of the rifle...OICW? Too lazy to check. But it really was useless, so no big loss.
