HL2 movie shows rating

This was posted just yesterday. :/

I think that all this means is ESRB played and rated the game i guess.

yep hl2 went gold, thank you vivendi for not revealing it before

It doesn't mean HL2 went gold, fool. And if it did, I highly doubt they'd be able to keep it secret.

honestly :O M rating doesnt mean anything,, apart from its an M rating, right?

Hopefully those who had a problem with HL2 getting a teen rating will be happy now. :|

[EDIT]: I don't see any M rating, all I see is Rating Pending.

They need to play the game to set a rating, correct?

You're right they maybe didn't announce it gold but they played it which means it should go gold pretty soon (or it allready did, only valve knows that now)

Just watching the Binks, and other movies...c'mon, it's gotta be a "M" rating. Pretty much any game with blood is rated "M", cept a few fighting games and Tony Hawk which are "T"

ummm, so how old do you have to be with 'M rating' to be legally purchasing the game?

I Expected HL2 to get a M rating instead of T :P nice to hear that it is already rated cus that means it will be released within a period of time

I just looked at the one in the official site. M rating. Cool

True that they would have to play the game. That only means the game is playable and moving towards its final form.

Yeah, I know. You know for a fact that the NO. of 17 years old gamers and over are alot more than 15 and less. Besides that, 15 years people are going to try this game, example DOOM3 rated 18 and its been played by millions of kids around the world !!

So my point is rating won't stop young gamers from playing this game.

Well I just turned 17 so that means that I can buy the game legally :)

17+ I believe!

lol, so a vast amount of people following the game here will be getting their parent's to purchase it, or going out themselves and buying it illegally if they can. Time to go and buy the fake beard's chaps.

Im 19 , phew :E

Actually, an M-rating has been proven to make games sell better. No more than logical because those games have gore, blood, violence and sometimes sex. It's the same for movies.

Makes you wonder about Alex then... Could she be the reason? Or just the massive amount of "gore"?

I think just being HL2 will make it sell a lot of copies. We all knew it was getting an M rating already.

I don't know about you american guys, but we in belgium can just buy the game without having to show our id or something.....for example, i am fifteen and i have bought doom3 :D
And no, i don't look 17+ ;)

lol.. I've been buying 18+ games since I was at least 14.. they just don't bother to check the rating or your age for games over here.

not if they are following routine...routine says that the ESRB are last to get the version of the game for rating. Why? because content cannot change after the rating, or all those boxes have to be reprinted. So, routine is that THE PUBLISHER (Vivendi) submits it to the esrb....so either the rc process is almost complete...and there may be a bug or 2 left, but the content will not change....

gold announcement should be within a wekk.

shh... don't jinx it :p

Meaby M for you over there, put at here Finland I think it will get 15+ rating if there is no any brutal violence like that you can keep much "fun" with it like shooting eyes out of head etc. and no any hardcore sex stuff.

And oh..wait....I am 16years old :D

Is the ESRB rating legally binding? its a guide line for shops but I don't think it holds any legal bearing other than to cover the company from law suites.

Well, the ESRB has not updated their webpage to reflect any rating of HL2...maybe they are just slow.

Also, the ESRB doesn't have to play a game to rate it. First a questionnaire is filled out and sent to the ESRB along with footage from the game, which is then reviewed and given an official rating certificate. Then, once the game is complete, a cpoy of the finished product is sent to the ESRB to ensure proper display of the rating on the packaging and what not and they also randomly play the game to be sure the information in the questionnaire was correct.

hey, cool the game was rated.
before the same trailer merely had "to be rated" on the end.
