There's none. Someone will probably make a nice mod though which people will start playing online :)

HL2Files.com reports here

http://halflife2.filefront.com/news/HalfLife_2_Multiplayer_Now_Working;13925

that you can get multiplayer working on the retail version:

net_start
sv_lan 0
deathmatch 1
maxplayers (whatever you want)
map (mapname ie hl2mp2.bsp)
restart

etc. (read their page for better instructions).
I'm wondering, when will a Linux version of the standalone server be released? I have Linux server with a near-idling TFC server on it, I hope to run HL2 asap...

This was posted yesterday, just search the forums, yes there is one that seems broken up, grey models, a couple rooms, and that is all

in the test mp you can activate cheats and throw barrels at each other
with manipaluter!
i heard people rave about it and say it was much fun!
(someone said: i never thought throw barrals at graw blobs could be so much fun!(or something simaly to that))

The guys from hl2world invented how to start it up and they made two maps for it. Its really nothing, just a box with some barrels and bricks in there, simply to test out the concept.
As far as i've seen, one of them can allready run around as barney, so the grey blobs are nothing definite.

Although is runs good (inculdig the manipulator), but it crashes on lots of things like bad console commands and such.

Judging by what I see there (no movies, just screenshots) HL2DM is pretty much there all the way, including the manipulator and vehicles, the only thing that really needs to be done is creating maps.
The rest (i.e. menu options, model/skin select, ingame chat, cheat disabling) is done in no-time when the sdk is out.
