HL2 multiplayer

Eh just like to ask whether HL2 is solely just a singleplayer game or is there multi-player like in HL?

Not like the DM from HL1, people think that valve is making a HL2DM add-on soon

Yup. Single and multiplayer action is out of the box. ENJOY!

It has a VERY unfinished multiplayer aspect to it (some people have managed to get servers online for a while). Valve's "surprise" next week could be a multiplayer addon (or so some people think). Even if it isn't, the SDK comes out next week too, so people will begin work on deathmatch and stuff anyway.

It does so have multiplayer out of the box. Fully supported and fully loaded out of the box!

Uh, no it doesn't. The base code is there but there's no multiplayer mode. Maybe you should actually GET the game first.

The game was designed as SP only... However VALVe still let HL2 have access to the netcode so it is possible to get MP running, but 100% unsupported and very buggy. No server browsing support either AFAIK so you have to know direct IP's....

So unless next week has a MP component, consider HL2 SP only.

However you do get Counter-Strike: Source free with your HL2 purchase. It's just not based in the HL2 setting/world/timeline at all so you can't call it "HL2 Multiplayer"

Uh yes it does. HLDM out of the BOX! WAHOOO! Seriously, lets just agree to disagree cause there is no real way to settle this.

Even though it doesn't come with an official DM, it's being worked on by modders as we speak. Not long at ALL for it to be out. So basically yes, HL2 has MP if you wait like 2 weeks from now
