hl2 offline

okay so ive just moved house and theres no net connection here, my computer is also new and so after installing hl2 steam asks me to connect before i can play. the problem being i have no internet connection and so its impossible to connect to steam

i was wondering if you can play half life 2 without having to connect to the internet at all

Sorry, it's impossible to do so without having connected online with it at least once on your current computer.

I suggest, if your house has a phone line, is to get a 56k modem (dirt cheap) and use that to connect to the Internet so you make sure everything is registered and uptodate so you can disconnect and play your games offline. There are plenty of pay-as-you-go Internet dialups numbers on the net so you don't have to signup if you're rarely going to access the Internet.
