Well... maybe they will port it to xBox at around, and then never port HL3 to console... so if the xBox losers want to play Hl3, they have to play it on PC, thereby winning over many to the PC side in the long run. (PCs are clearly superior to every console ever made with the exception of original Nintendo )

PS3 has great graphics. ive seen screens for it. i dont like 1st person shooters for consols. i have ps2 but not an xbox. i wouldent even want it for ps2 if it was avalible. if they have to do they should wait. they did that to half life 1 and it wasnt as good.

Ummm are you joking? If doom 3 can be put on a console....pretty sure hl2 is do-able as well. Now just get over yourself, its going to console so quit complaining its too late.

it can handle it graphicly. but it wont be nerly as good. i hate controllers. i like to use a mouse so you can move around at any angle and catch all the action. and a key board to keep all the controls. a controler has like 6 bottons no fun dude no fun

You can be sure as eggs that there isn't any 'warm fuzzy' feeling towards the pc when it comes to halflife2. Valve will sell it whichever way they can to sell the most copies.
And it won't look too bad on the xbox- doom 3 doesn't.

so what?I think it is kinda cool that the xbox is the ONLY console(out right now) that can handle the big PC games to any extent..doom3,HL2..sure it isn't going to be as good as on some 64-bit, $500+ vidcard having PC,but I say again,SO WHAT?

games are games even if its on(oh,heaven help us!) a console..some people might not have the couple of grand to get a |33t PC..consoles are there for them..

Everything I've heard points to Xbox 2, and its capabilities will probably be better than a lot of our computers so I'm not worried about it being defiled like a 12 year old boy at neverland ranch (sorry watching the news and his jury selection was on :dozey: )

it will be on Xbox 2, i heard something about it, sure of it. It will run fine, and look just as good, but TV's and analog controllers may make the playing experiance a tad blurred and stiff. It wont be as much fun IMO , manipulator, and quick switching between that and weapons on a controller..? what a nightmare. It will be so hard to play, unless xbox 2 has a keyboard and mouse addition.

How can it possibly run HL2 on 64 RAM? I've got 1024 RAM and loading times are still quite long. It's Graphics card is similar to a Geforce 4 (but less powerful) so graphics settings would probably have to be on low

How can doom 3? Thats more of a question than HL2.

I can answer that. TV's resolution (output) is really bad, but from afar the graphics look pretty much the same as they would do on a powerful PC. Meaning, if the game was run on low res using a TV, the game being run would look and run at the same speed without the Xbox (or whatever console) having to be super powerful due to the fact that the resolution is not very good. Same thing applies with Doom 3. Does that answer your question?

TBH, it wouldn't suprise me if Valve scrap (or HAVE scrapped) the idea of an X-Box version. They've been keepin quiet for a long time about it, and unless they're going to get it out soon, they're going to miss the boat. This generation of consoles is a dying breed - why should they strain themselves to get HL2 working on them when they can just wait around a bit and they'll have "better than PC" machines ready and capable of running the game with less effort in programming terms?

I think the next big question is which Next-Gen consoles it will appear on. X-Box 2 is pretty likely considering they're supposedly doing an X-Box 1 version, but it's not like they're keeping these things Microsoft exclusive: they'll put it on Sony's next console and maybe even Nintendo's.

the xbox is the equivalent of a 2-3 year old desktop PC..733MHz,geforce3,and I believe the HDD has a partition or 2 that are used somewhat like RAM..

mine is modded so I am not sure about a "pure" retail xbox..I know mine has 3 such partitions and each is about 768MB

It must be possible. Final Fantasy XI allows PS2 and PC players from all over the world to play against each other. Sooner or later, they'll make an FPS that pits PC and Console gamers against each other in an FPS. Though I expect it'd be short lived if the Mouse+Keyboard combo is truely far better than the Joypad+Aim-Assist technique.
