hl2 preload will have benchmark software included?

hi, will the half-life 2 preload have the benchmark software included with it so before half-life 2 is out you can see if your comp can handle it?

good question. but its most likely just going to be encrypted hl2 files, but who knows valve might be nice and give us the benchmark too

they could release just the engine+bench along with the other files.

i mean damn, when do they plan to let the real hl2 fans run the hl2 benchmark. still blows my mind

The engine could be made to only run the bench , and that way they would just update the engine files nedded when you go and steam-load(lol) all the game when its availible

Would we like them to do all the extra work needed to make sure people couldn't crack the engine and make it run the main media, for the sake of having a multiple gigabyte benchmarktool a few weeks before release?
