Hi,
I bought HL2 the day before yesterday, and I've been having problems as of late.
During game play, the game just freezes with a looping sound of whatever was last to play. Then, Windows makes the error noise and although nothing pops up it returns to the desktop.
I’ve already seen to it that HL2 (and its other components) are all updated by Steam. I’ve also tried running that command with Steam that detects whether HL2 is modified or not, and everything checks out.
I don’t know my computers exact specs. But it’s something like:
Custom built
Windows XP Home SP2
About 512-530-something mb. of ram
30 GB HD space on C:\
2 gigahertz Processor
Radion 8500 (I think)
Another thing, HL2 is playable, it’s just quite annoying when you have to save constantly and if you don’t you go back a chapter whenever the game crashes again. The game crashes are completely random as well; I have no way of predicting when it will crash next.
One last thing, I’m running HL2 on minimum settings. Low Shading, Low Model detail, Low Water Reflections. I’m also running HL2 on minimum Audio Settings.
Don’t know if that will help all that much but whatever.
Please Help,
