HL2 UK DVD gyp

I'm very VERY dissapointed that the UK DVD is not the same as the US DVD, I was under the assumption that it would be the same, IE contain HL:Source, and the ability to download DOD:source for free when released.

The only details the worthwhile online sites for buying games (amazon.co.uk play.com, gameplay) are listing are 'half life 2' they do not list the package type (bronze silver gold), list contents, etc, but there ARE no alternatives for a hard copy.

There is only ONE version available in the UK, and as it is DVD and RRP's at £44.99 ( $83.09 USD) it wasn't assuming too much to think it would be the same pressing (or rather content) as the US DVD, and that we just missed out on the book and t-shirt, despite the very similar price.

From what I've played of the game so far, I am incredibly impressed ,even on my 2.2ghz p4 with gf4, but this situation has left me feeling really incredibly sour.


P.S I'd also like to report that as installed on winXP vids.cvid decoder error comes up and it's quite tricky to find a working cinepack codec for XP installer online these days.

if theres one thing the UK CE's have that the US CE's don't is that they come in a Tin Box which is not only pretty and stuff but easy to store with the rest of ur games.

i hate how these packages are different.. it ticks me off to no end :angry: :angry: :angry:

The Aussie CE got the DVD, CS: Source, Half-Life 1 Source, crappy throw-away book and T-shirt guarenteed not to fit anyone under 100kilos/6 foot.

No DoD: S and a requirement to have the god-damn CD in the drive all the time

same as the US version, crappy box that's way too big and nowhere near as nice as the euro tin box that's being offered for their CE. Damn i want a way so that all us retail collectors edition can make valve/VU know how much their package sucks and how much we all feel ripped off. I hope they can offer DoD free download to us retail CE buyers!

Xac493 the US DVD version does have HL:S and the rights to download DOD:S when it's released, as the only way to get a DVD copy in the US is to get the CE version, dipshit.

which costs $80 ish, the same as the UK version i have's RRP. Read posts before flaming dumbass.

As I made it clear i've seen NO sign of a UK CE version ANYWHERE, or in fact any version other than the one available from amazon.co.uk / play etc.

I'd be hapilly proved wrong, appart from the fact that with this £$%"£$%*£$%"£$V steam auth system, that has allready been cicumvented by pirates to let them play hl2 anyway, I can't £$$*ing sell my current copy to change!
