HL3 plot idea

I was just thinking about an idea for the story of HL3. You emerge from the Gmans stasis portal several years after the end of HL2, the world is slowly rebuilding with the combine deafeted and Earth fighting a slow war with the combine through the border worlds. With the new portal technology developed by kleiner finally coming to fruition Earth no longer needs to travel through Xen and the border worlds to get to the rest of the Universe. You arrive on the ever of Earths invasion of the combine and fight your way to their capital.

Maybe the staging area could be a rebuilt Black Mesa.

I agree… who would have guessed hl2 from hl’s ending? Just cause its fun though lets all use our imaginations to theorize a hl3 plot in this thread…
I think it would be fun to see something post apocalyptic in hl3. Nuclear winterish. The combine, seeking to make an example out of the rebellion on earth, return full force, squash the rebellion and transform the atmosphere and ocean’s like it says they were doing in Raising the Bar. Some humans retreat to deep underground in shelters, eking out a miserable parody of life. Others, with help from the Vortigaunts, Eli and Kleiner, flee to relatively small pockets of hospitable dimensions where the combine will not notice them. When Gordon finds himself placed back on earth by the G-Man 20+ years have passed. Alyx has survived (of course) and is now a couple years older then Gordon! (Weird!) The combine, having striped earth of all its valuable resources, have packed up and gone home, leaving a small mostly ceremonial presence on earth. Gordon must unite what is left of humanity and lead them to a new promised land. Unfortunately that’s not in the combine’s plans for humanity…
Other idea’s people? I want to hear them.

This Is Tea - For all we know the Dark Energy thing blowing up cause of caused a Nuclear Winter ^_-

G-Man might have lost track of time with his 'wake up and smell the ashes' from what I saw there wasn't much ashes, there would be if that Dark Energy thing did some serious damage.

Id say City 17 is pretty well doomed, unless Dark Energy doesnt explode that big and doesn't have radiation =/

It would be cool to see Gordon revied to help with an evacuation of earth, via kleiner's portal technology, in your nuclear fallout scenario. Gordon could be used as a scout to go on ahead and secure a new world for the human race to colonize and purge it of combine. Alternatively he could act as a protector, defending the first colonists as they travel to their new planet\dimension\border world\whatever.

However I'm sure not matter how long we all speculate, Valve will surprise us all. I just hope Hl3 doesn't get leaked early. I think the fact that we had a vague idea of hl2's story over a year before it came out took something away from the game. Don't get me wrong though, I still loved it.
