Went to the bottom of the lounge and saw this -
Untitled-24.jpg

A list of the moderators in the sub-forum, is this a new thing? I don't recall seeing it before.

Nope, it's always been visible (well to staff anyway). We have specific moderators for specific sections and they are shown in that box. Super mods and admins have a remit of the entire forums so there is no need to state them in there.

For a full list of moderators in each forum, see here - http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showgroups.php

Thanks Glenn and Tav! Never noticed it, but maybe just never payed any attention to it.
Glenn, the list shows two groups of moderators, but only one shows the assigned forum, whats special about the other?

Other then that, let the flamage against my newbish question begin.

It has been there, but it's been displayed differently. I believe it was a long thin line right across the bottom. I know Shippi is a mod for the Art and Design and Asus for the Hardware and Software, off the top of my head, so yes, it has been there before. I don't think there was a counter, though.

So let me get this straight: a mod like DigiQ8 can't lock threads etc in "The Lounge" because he's not on that list which has Evo, Shippi and KagePrototype? Correct?

It's just badly presented! The first moderator list is old, it was for privileges which were set in separate user groups for single forums here and there. The second list of moderators is the properly updated current list, blame Munro :P

Wrong, Evo, Shippi and Kage can close a thread because they are moderators for that forum, as can every super moderator and administrator. Content writers are staff but not moderators, so don't have the ability to close threads.

So can those who aren't moderators for a particular forum close threads?

Yep...supermods and administrators have global access to close any thread they like. (3rd time I've said it now!) But other staff who are specific moderators to forums e.g. atomicsparks is gmod only, Evo is offtopic only, can only close threads in those forums.

Beware...they can still ban who they like ;)

I want to say that I have powers in The Lounge but I have forgotten if that is now Off Topic.

/brain explodes

Thanks for clearing it up.
