How complex is this?

I know its a very general question so I'll try to break it down some more. Is it easy like the Morrowind CS or a little more complex like the HL1 hammer editor? Can you even compare it to those? All I really want to do is level design. I'll just be making my own levels running around them, and if a bright idea pops in my head I may try making a mod. The CS in morrowind was EXTREMELY easy to pickup and learn how to use, but the HL1 Hammer editor,(for me) was and still is, difficult. Taking away scripting and tweaks and all that how hard would it be for me to make levels, like houses, islands, city streets and stuff? I like the Morrowind CS because I can just drag'n'drop pieces into the rendering window and then just place them in the spot I want them and shaping land was as easy as clicking on the ground. Now HL1 editing was so hard(or not very easy to learn without tutorials) I just made levels and did not and could not figure out how to play the levelset what enemies do(IE lay on ground until you get close). I would create the entity and add the head zombie thing to it but it showed as a colorful box so I didn't know if I did it right. Wow I ramble... Can anyone who mods everything, please explain to me!

Quake is not a RPG
HL2 is not a RPG

so be a man and face it: not every editor is like the Morrowind ED.

instead you could LEARN how to use it - maybe over here, here or maybe here
In fact its realy easy. Try the simple things first (basic room, 1 player spawn ... maybe 1 or 2 monters) and then create more and more ... its a long way of learning. You cant expect a full playable episode after a week or something. Real GOOD mapping take years.

so in other news: mapping is NOT! modding. Modding includes the knowleged of CODING (would be C++ in this case) which has nothing todo with "drag and drop" but alot with many numbers and codes and cryptic things no one but coders can understand.
