Hello,
I doubled the processing speed and the memory size of my computer and I haven't seen many improvements in HL2. Is it possible to force HL2 to draw distanct objects? I think my PC should be able to handle that.

What's your system specs now? (including video card)

mat_mipmaptextures 1
jpeg_quality 99
mp_decals 4096
cl_c4dynamiclight 1
cl_ragdoll_collide 1
r_rainradius 2600
r_propsmaxdist 5000
r_rainsplashpercentage 100
r_decal_cullsize 0
r_lod -5

That should make your computer blow it's brains out - make sure to turn AA and AF up all the way too! :D

ah a Naruto fan...great Series indeed..
You have nice CPU and ram is enough but ur Grafix card I fear isnt all that great I hope ur PC doesnt blow up when you enter those con commands

Buy a new video card and HL2 will run like a beast with all settings set to max. For now it's like Lemonking said.

what a shame then...

cl_drawdistance doesn't work, and these:

mat_mipmaptextures 1
jpeg_quality 99
mp_decals 4096
cl_c4dynamiclight 1
cl_ragdoll_collide 1
r_rainradius 2600
r_propsmaxdist 5000
r_rainsplashpercentage 100
r_decal_cullsize 0
r_lod -5

don't really help my cause....

Are you talking about phys objects or scene static props? What dx level are you running the game in? More info please.

i did it before, i changed the support.cfg, but it auto updates and replaces it and i dont remeber what you have to change =/

and it dosnt slow performance all too much...

would an all in wonder 9800 pro handle it at those specs? 128mb?

I am talking about being able "to see" buildings and geographical elements that are far away from the player.

I have direct x 9.0c. Is that what you mean by "dx level"?

Highway 17 is the part of the game where I was expecting to see improvements. I think it is in the 2nd map of Highway 17 where you can see the G-man talking to Cubbage when you use the binoculars inside this abandoned house turned into a Combine outpost next to the coast. You can noclip, or create and then drive a mudskipper, to get there, but you don't really get to see the other side of the coast until you are close enough. I would like to be able to see the other side from far away.

I think that has to do with the engine's ability to draw world geometry at that distance. So I'm not sure if it is possible for it to do that, I would like it to though.

They've applied a slight "fog" trick to enable them to get away with not drawing objects at super-extreme distances. I don't think it's possible to work around that.
As for dx level, when you run the game in dx7 mode, phys objects (among other things) disappear at about 20 ft or so. That's why I was asking.

Are you sure the fog cannot be turned off? HL2 has yet to disappoint me.
