how do I take down the helicopter?

how do I take down the helicopter? I just got finished driving to this bunker place with other people... but it seems I can't take it down. I shoot and shoot. I can't find a rocket launcher anywhere. So when it drops those mines, I try shooting them up. But I'm almost dead again, and I just shot my 20th mine at it.

Use the balls it drops and throw them back, with the gravity gun

yeah I'm traumatically ashamed to say this but it literally comes down to lobbing mines at the thing.

oh and Alex is in an open crate lobbing medkits at you if you can find her

On a side note I liked Alyx a lot in this game, but I haven't HATED many things more than I hated Alyx during that fight.

...well, great...so are you going to drop it? Okay, I've been lured towards you, out of cover, causing the Helicopter to shoot me for 50 dmg anyway, so will you drop it now? What if I stand here...? Will you drop it quickly please, Alyx, it shot me again. Drop it please?? Where did it go??! Is it under one of these mines that landed while I was here strafing?? Oh, I see, you chucked it 10 feet behind me, right into the open. Good move. I see the strategy there. You did good. Now I'm dead. Thanks. A ****ing. Million.
