I made a very nice longsword and sheild with magic properties, but after using them for a while it says that they are no longer "charged." How might I go about recharging them?

You either need to buy charged soul stones to recharge those weapons or need to use "trap soul" spell on an enemy and then kill him to steal his soul. Naturally empty soul stones are cheaper and more abudant than full ones. You can also pay a huge amout of money to get them recharged right away in the mages guild (1 gold per recharge point).

I resisted using charged weapons for a long time as its a hassle. I needed to resuply my soul gems and needed to cast trap soul always. But thanks to some sweet items its almost no trouble. You'll have to do two quests. One quest is for for Umbra's sword, which is super powerful and automatically casts trap soul on the enemy you hit. Another one is for Alzura's Star (I think that's the name) which gives you a soul stone that is rechargable and is not used up (no more soul stone buying).

Both are deadra quests (need to approch a statue), so look through walkthroughs to find them if you want them right now. Otherwise you'll have to find them yourself and be content with casting spells and buying soul gems.

How do I trap souls? Do I just cast soul trap on them and they fill up automatically? Do I have to kill him or can an NPC? I've got lesser, petty, common and greater soul stones in my inventory but they all remain empty :(

Yup, if you kill the enemy while soul trap is still active on them, then it automatically fills one of your soul gems. I think it defaults to the one at the tope of your list, but I could be wrong. The it will just fill the others as you trap and kill more.

DO get Azura's Star though--it is a huge help and the quest is not that difficult....

Also, if you happen to pick up a Varla stone in your travels through elven ruins, using one of those will fully recharge every magical item you have. You can also sell them for a meaty price, so it's sometimes a dilemma.

The thing I'd recommend with Azura's Stone is to dump all the other soul gems you have. Put Soul Trap as your magic attack, bind Azura's Stone to one of your hotkeys, and just soul trap every creature you fight. Works like a charm :D

Ah,thank you, the spell had worn off by the time I killed them...

Soul gems or mage guild...Mage guild is very expensive, depending on the charges of the item.

just depends on where you look...if you talk to the person to buy them its expensive, but you can always get them for free ;)

I just need to know where to get the Soul Trap spell. I have Azura's Star yet have no use for it.
