How many new guns in HL2

UUuhhh its the future... all of them except the crowbar and rpg are new... m4 was a blue shit client side revamp of the graphics... so Ill call it mp5... and no they dont have it in HL2. :|

I think that nobody knows, because we sure ain't seen all the weapons yet, we've seen about 5% of the game if that.There are bound to be lots of weird alien weapons, for a start.

Pheromone grenades.
Weird I-Rifle gun.
OICW, if it makes it in.
MP-whatsit.
"Alien Machine Gun" - from one of the mags.
USP Match.
Probably the Shock Prod.
Maybe the Flare Gun you see the combine in Barricade drop.
Manipulator.

I know some of those are probably technically replacements for HL weapons, but I'd expect to see even more on top of those already mentioned...

We know that 5 weapons will be returning:

Crowbar
RPG
Gauss Gun
.357 Magnum Revolver
Crossbow

It may be six if the shotgun is the same, but I don't think that it is.

Well... *All* weapons are new. The ones mentioned above do however contain the same fire-altfire stuff (Like Gauss Gun has fire single beam and power up...).

But all of the gun will be way different in Source. The crowbar now actually does a *swing*

They where made for E³ 2003 but the settings will come back not just the exact levels

Prolly some were made for E3 or cut out. I remember something like this for far cry, because if you ever edited yuo saw several textures along the lines of e3_beach_sand. I think theyll keep the fanblade thing though. It's along the lines of "you can't show the player a really big bomb and not let them blow it up."

I haven't seen anything 'original' on this board in weeks Not much we can do other than recycle old topics and jokes until we get some new information

From what I have seen in the videos, the shotgun looks like it is the exact same. It's modeled after a Spas-12 shotgun. It looks darker and longer than it used to, but I think it's the same.

Well let's say 6 make a return, they'll probably be a total of say 14 weapons, then the difference in new weapons will be 7, possibly more. I doub't they'd have less weapons in it than HL1, they'd either have the same amount or more, that's where I plucked 14 from, HL1.

I think there are a few more. Plus, some of the returing weapons have had facelifts and upgrades.

Things like satchel charges and trip mines probably will not be returning because they were either brought in by the military, or manufactured primarily at Black Mesa.


On that note, would you classify the granade as completely new, or just a prettier version of the old grenades from the original Half-Life?

Nah, the cheap alien grenades were the green blobs of acid the shock troopers threw at you, that thing had a blast radious of like 10 feet when it splashed.

Yeah they threw spores and when those landed, they splashed all over that place, instant death if you were playing on hard.. :x

What can you classify as a weapon? Something that Gordon can pick up? Something that does damage?

It's been rumored that Gordon can pick up cans and rocks to throw at things. Would these be considered weapons?

The Manipulator allows you to pick up things, but is it really a weapon? I view it as a tool.
