How the hell?

You know the Thieves Guide quest where ya gotta find Theranis and that book. Well he's not in the jail and I have no idea where else to look. No one else talks about him besides the begger, who basically says why he is in the jail...

Then theres Mina or whoever the "pale lady", but she isn't anywhere ahhh!!! Help me! I finished the Dark Brotherhood, I wanna get Thieves guide to.

I did, he just tells me that he was taken by the pale women. Then I freed him and now he sits there behind the door.
