how to check CPU temp

I recently built a new dual core pc and it has been running great, except last night. I started it up last night and the Asus screen (i have an asus mobo) was all distorted and the screen after that looked like a mess. I am very protective of my dual core CPU and I just wanted to make sure that it's not a problem of the CPU overheating. Is there a program that I can download that will show me my CPU's temperature while I am running some programs. I know how to check it while I'm in the BIOS, but I want to see how the CPU handles some stress.

if the screen was distorted it would be the gfx card not cpu and you can check the cpu temp. in the bios or by using software. i recommend using a program called everest http://www.utilidades-utiles.com/Download-System-Utilities-Everest.html
