how to host garrys mod server?

everytime i try to hose one no one can join my server...is there something i need to do or what... if anyone know can someone plz reply

You have to have an open port on your firewall to allow stable connections to your computer (Server)

GAH, n00b. First off, this should be in the garrysmod section.

You have to have open ports and such I'm not sure. I just turned off my firewall and it works but I'm not sure.

lol, I'm just messing with you, if you turn off your firewall while you are playing it works just as well...
