It would be nice if Webzen gave a sign of life. Supposedly there will be a closed beta soon, so some footage and info on the E3 would be welcome. The idea of a mmofps is still very appealing to me and the screenshots that were released last month look promising enough. Anyone else still looking forward to this game?

It looks interesting, but I don't understand something. If humans are the sapiens, then what the hell are the alternatives? Can you not play as the hybrids?

I'm definitely keeping an eye on it. Love the idea of a decent MMOFPS (hello planetside).

I am definitely NOT keeping an eye on it. I think it missed its window...certainly the window of my interest. :|

Last I heard, Huxley would be funded through microtransactions. Automatic shit.

The ONLY reason I am still watching this is to get into the beta.

they're a korean developer so e3 might not be all that important to them. huxley has had such a checkered development history that this doesnt surprise me.in fact I was surprised when it wasnt cancelled.

Tbh I actually thought it was cancelled. I found out a couple of days ago that it was still alive and made this thread.

I was excited when it was first announced. now that they've scaled the number of peeps on the screen at the same time to around 100 I lost what little interest I had. I laso admit to being weary of a fps that comes from that art of the world ..I expect seizure inducing visuals and a hud that takes up most of the screen. also angry asians shooting at me while screaming like banshees

Planetside was, in my opinion, one of the best MMOs made.

new info on Huxley:

Speaking with ijji.com earlier today, just before we got a hands-on with upcoming MMOFPS Huxley: The Dystopia, the company confirmed to us that the game is going with the microtransaction model. Furthermore, the once announced cross-platform play between Xbox 360 and PC has been cut from the game.

Boo Won Kim told us during a presentation of ijji.com's upcoming offerings that, "At this point, yes, [Huxley is] microtransaction supported." We then asked whether or not the cross-platform component of the game -- once it's main selling point -- had been cut. Andy Wong confirmed to us the fact, though he added that that's only the case "at this point." Considering how long the game has been in development -- and the heavily twitch-movement focused gameplay -- we're putting our money on the cross-platform functionality never returning.

well this sounds nothing like what was first announced. free to play will likely mean paid content that unbalances the game

Repeating: microtransactions = automatic shit.

Battlefield Heroes disagrees with you. it's tons of fun and the microtransactions arent necessary to the game

impressions from the Huxley Beta:

Character creation is good, they even had some aspects ripped off from that APB video such as placing tattoos and scars anywhere you wanted. This leads to a strange propensity for people to put tattoos on their faces in the game.

They are using an anti-cheat program called Game Guard (same as America's Army) which is incredibly annoying and is affecting the performance of the game. There's a way to kill the process if you're quick enough while the game is loading which is somewhat counterproductive to the whole anti-cheat thing... but it improved the performance almost 10x.

PvE is Korean MMO grindish "kill x things then report back to me." You can do this with squad mates which makes it a lot more fun. I can see the potential for some epic instanced missions but the beta isn't serving that up. There was one mission to rescue an NPC that I actually failed the first time through, I'm glad they are leaving that possibility open for quests. The PvE enemies are Zerg like mutants that try and swarm you en masse.

PvP is the meat of the game and unfortunately it's not too great right now. The biggest issue is that it's all peer to peer listen servers, there are no dedicated servers in the beta and there isn't any confirmation the final game will have them. Like Dwango your mileage will vary on lag depending on who's hosting the listen server. The most frustrating part is not seeing a ping indication or anything before you start the game. Maps are small and very uninspiring. These feel like 1v1 maps and so it gets crowded easily.

The MMO aspect is very well done, from uprgrading your weapons and armor to trying to gain unlockables and rank. Hopefully this beta will smooth out the performance issues and make the deathmatch part of it much more appealing.

I submitted 77 bugs last night if that's any indication.
