I heard from someone that agp 8x will become obsolete when the new Pci express Nforce 4 motherboards will be released in a few weeks. Someone told me that after a good while, they will abandon agp 8x for pci express. Is this good enough reason to wait on buying a computer?

AGP will be phased out but slowly. If you want a guarantee that you will be able to buy a new card in the future and have it work for your board then look into PCI-Express. If you generally upgrade more than just your card then don't worry about it. You will be able to buy a motherboard and card that allows it to all work with your system.

obsolete is a harsh word to use. I think Asus said it quite nicely. AGP will be phased out, but it will be an 'evolution', not a 'revolution'...

OK thanks bro, i know this will sound stupid but answer me this. If i purchase a 939 abit mobo for an FX-55....and purchase everything from alienware...will I be able to upgrade to an Nforce 4 motherboard with ease when I want? Also, if I get the Nvidia 6800 ultra card....will that card be PCI-express compatible with the Nforce4 board?
