Hi folks,

First of all... I didn´t buy an illegal copy, ok? I payed for my HL2 in a FNAC store here in São Paulo, Brazil.

Well... I installed the 5 CDs (i choosed to install HL2 and CSource).

I have a STEAM ACCOUNT where i play DAY OF DEFEAT...

When i clicked in HALF LIFE 2 to play the game, a window comes, so i click in REGISTER A PRODUCT I ALREADY OWN button...

I fill with my CD-KEY and i got the following message:
"STEAM - INVALID CD KEY".

My CD-KEY is similiar to (i mean, the format):
ZLP2-LLE5X-RNA5A-ZZDH5-RRRXF

Any of you could HELP ME, please? Is my CD-KEY format similar to yours? If you have any information that could help me, please, just do it!

Thanks very much... Best regards!

Joel

Hey dude im am having the exact!!!!! same problem!!!!!!!!

I dont understand either!

maybe we need to create a new account??
look at my topic

Hi, as you see, the CD-KEY printed for me is in this format:
1234-12345-12345-12345-12345

So, the first group contains just 4 letters (or numbers) and i checked in others HL2 foruns, that the correct format contains 5 groups with 5 numbers (or letters), and not fours numbers (or letters) in the first group, as i have...

So, i decided to start put a number in front of the first letter of the first group (so i got 5 groups with 5 characters)... And imagine what happened? I start with 0 (zero)... When i put the number 4, i got a message to put my CD/DVD and i got to REGISTER my HL2...

So, i just can think that my CD-KEY was wrong printed (lacking the first character/number of the first group)...

I hope it could be HELP you too friend... Good Luck!

Double-check, triple-check that you are entering it correctly. And you are only entering the AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC-DDDDD-EEEEE part, right? There is a second line with 'HALFLIFE 2' and some numbers, dont enter that.

Thanks for your comments DILUTED, but i checked almost 20 times... As i mentioned, my CD-KEY was LACKING the first character of the first group, because my first group just had 4 numbers/characters...

Best regards.

mine is similar to this
12345-12345-12345-12345-12345-12345678

try entering it without the '678'

It should be five sets of five digits.

That's too many characters. The HL2 cd-key is supposed to be 25 characters, 5 groups of 5 characters (at least mine was).

11111-22222-33333-44444-55555

Oh man... You must just put the first 5 groups... So, in your example, you just must put:
12345-12345-12345-12345-12345

Forget the others letters/numbers after the 5th group.

I don´t think it is possible... Better, i think that you must take care because someone could register in his STEAM ACCOUNT you will need to buy another HL2...

Please, put here the CD-KEY you are typing (but INVERT the letters/numbers!!! DONT PUT THE SAME LETTERS/NUMBERS THAT YOU HAVE THERE...

Again... I Just Want To Check Your Cd-key Format... Dont Put The Same You Have There, Because You Will Be In Trouble.

How about take a picture, scan it out, go in paint block out a few letters, and we can check the format like that?

still dont work...is there anyway someone can try my cd key?

ill do it, it will be set up to any account of your choosing. if your a trusting person

Well if you're entering your cd-key correctly and it still doesn't work, its not going to work if you give it to someone else. You're absolutely positive you are entering 25 characters? 5 sets of 5 characters? with dashes ( - ) separating the sets?
