It happened a while ago. I joined a general construction game that had been set up by a friend, I'll just call him Mark. I entered the password (He always uses the same one) and it started to connect. I started downloading a file called portal.lua (as well as portal.vmf). I didn't think much of it at the time. I had heard a little about lua viruses at the time but I figured that Mark generally knew what he was doing and I trusted him. Nothing happened imediatly and I found a new portal entity in my VMF loader, I figured that the lua script was just to do with that and ignored it.
The portal was cool. You got 2 pieces of metal with portals on them. If you looked in one you could see out the other and if you dropped something into one it came out the other. It wasn't smooth like in Portal itself of course, the objects just teleported when they touched off one of the portals, they didn't really fall through. It was still cool though and you hardly noticed when you walked through them.
After a while I forgot about the portals and moved on to some general building. Mark made quite a good fort while I built some seige weapons. The cannons worked nicly but the catapults where a complete disaster. I don't have any screens though, I'll tell you why now.
It wasn't until the next day that the shit hit the fan. I turned on the computer. It acted normally at first but after a while I noticed that it was acting rather slowly. I didn't really think much about it until I tried to find a screenshot I had taken of my cannons. I couldn't find the folder. The entire Steam folder was gone except for the directory
SteamApps/Sourcemods/gmod9/lua/portal.lua
I looked at the rest of the the C Drive and about a quarter of the folders were missing. As I watched I saw my ATI Technologies folder vanish. I didn't know what to do. I called my parents into the room and suddenly my mom got scared. She said "You're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air." I whistled for a cap and when it came near the licence plate said Fresh and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I can say that this cab was rare but I thought nah forget it, "Yo! Home to Bel Air!". I pulled up to the house about seven or eight and I yelled to the cabbie "Yo homes, smell you later". I looked at my kingdom, I was finally there, to sit on my thrown as the Prince of Bel Air.
