I just installed Garys Mod, but no instructions were enclosed with the download. When I start Garys through Steam, it says "opening HL2 Deathmatch". Anyway, I start the "single game", and fill up the gm_construct map with all sorts of characters and other objects. Then I save.... Ok. Now I want to play, but how do I do that???

Could someone give a short step-by-step explanation as I have found no such thing on the net.

Thanx.

What do you mean 'play'? The mod is a sandbox mod, you build stuff and pose the ragdolls. You can go online and 'play' it that way, but then you are just posing and building online with other people. That or shooting or being shot by other people.

There is no plot or story or goal to this mod beyond that. It is more of a creative tool.

I perfectly understand that. But somehow, you want to test your own customized map / sceene. My problem is that when I put in the persons etc., they just lie on the ground. Nothing happens. How do I wake those people up?? How do they come to live? Thats my question! Thank you for your patience!!

HAHAHAHAHA omg, I can't stop laughing! This is the most n00bish thread that ever n00bed a n00b-nub...

Thats all I got. OK gurgle, If you want NPCs download The ultimate garrysmod minimod...The latest version.......n00b!

Hey, Im happy I gave u a laugh! At least - where could I get basic information on this issue since no one seems to have the will or capacity to explain...

I already ****ing explained, If you are completely imcompetent go to The garrys mod forums and search around..

It's alright, this time! BTW I was like tired as hell when I typed that I didn't mean to be so....mean.

Gurgle, now I understand what you want.

There is a difference between 'ragdoll' and 'npc'. Ragdolls are when they are dead and you can pose them. NPCs are 'live', they can move on their own, but you CAN'T pose them.

There are addons to Garrysmod, like Reaper's menu, that will allow some control over NPCs. You can spawn them, make them attack each other or you, stuff like that.

Here's a link to Reapers(the one I use).
